million euros (46 million RON) in the first half of the year, an
approximately 22% increase from the corresponding period of last year,
according to company officials.

"The growth in turnover in the first six months was triggered by the launch
of our new product, the teflon-based Savana paint, and by the development of
the construction market and rural tourism," said Marga Alexe, marketing
manager of the Fabryo Corporation. Washable teflon-based paint is highly
stain resistant, as stains cannot penetrate the coating and, thus, can be
removed very easily.

Company representatives expect the growth rate of sales to keep up
throughout the second half of the year, due to products launched in
partnership with the American giant DuPont, the world leader in the
production of white pigment for paint, paper and plastic.

On the varnish segment, where the Savana brand is active, Fabryo sales in
the first half went up 28% against the same period last year. Similar growth
was seen on the segment of washable paint, where sales went up 25% against
the first six months of 2005.

"Washable paint had the most spectacular results, due to the launch of the
new product, the Savana, with a teflon Surface Protector. The product was
created and launched in partnership with DuPont, and we are to team up again
in the future for other new products," says Alexe.

In addition to the washable teflon-based paint, Fabryo has also created a
teflon-based wood varnish with DuPont.

"The increasing numbers of holiday homes, which are built mostly of wood and
wood decorative elements, as well as the new trend to build gardens with
pavilions and wooden benches have been the drive behind the 33% growth in
varnish sales," specifies Alexe.

Fabryo has signed a five-year agreement with the Americans at DuPont.

The company's growth became more prominent this year, when the Swedish
investment fund, Oresa Ventures, acquired 49% in the varnish and paint
producer Guzu Chim, which became the Fabryo Corporation following a
rebranding process.

Recently, the company has positioned itself among the top players on a
competitive market that has annual sales estimated at 140 - 150 million
euros. Its main rivals are K?ber from Piatra Neamt (another family
business), Policolor Bucharest and Dufa Deutek, a business that became part
of the Advent investment fund portfolio last year.

The company announced it would invest some 4 million euros this year to
finalise the construction of a plant that is located on a six-hectare plot
in the town of Popesti-Leordeni.

"In the first half of the year, we have invested 2.4 million euros in
completing projects already underway," explains Alexe.
York, in the first six months of the year registered turnover worth over 4.7
million euros (17.1 million RON), up 7% from the corresponding period of
last year.

However, the company officials estimate that growth will be bigger in the
second half of the year, given the broadening product portfolio. The company
last year posted 10% turnover growth year-on-year, up to 11.1 million euros.
Early in the year, Azur management had estimated that turnover would reach
13.5 million euros in 2006.

"Though the first three months are not significant in terms of figures,
given the seasonal character of sales of decorative paint, the first
indication of growth emerged as soon as March, once we launched the new
product portfolio," Eugen Niculescu, marketing manager of Azur Timisoara,
told ZF Transilvania.

He chose not to provide any data on the projected growth of turnover during
the second half of the year, but specified Azur would reach a market share
of around 6% this year.

In recent years, the Timisoara-based company has seen constant growth,
primarily generated by the rising sales on the foreign market. Thus, while
in 2003 Azur's exports accounted for only 15% of total production, last
year's exports doubled, with the company's management expecting exports to
account for 25% of turnover this year. "The main objective for this year is
related to expansion on the foreign market and to increased distribution,"
Eugen Niculescu said.

Since 1999, investments in Azur Timisoara have amounted to approximately 7
million euros. They were meant to improve technological aspects and
know-how, but were also aimed at human resources and environmental
protection, areas that are also important for the Timisoara-based producer.

This year, Azur will invest 170,000 euros in environmental protection and
production technology. Particularly addressing furniture manufacturers and
firms operating in the civil and industrial construction markets, Azur's
main customers are domestic and foreign companies, tyre manufacturers and
furniture producers.

On the domestic market, the firm has a good working relationship with the
Bricostore and Selgros networks. "We want to strengthen our collaboration on
this segment, and by the end of this year we plan to enter talks with other
stores as well," Niculescu also said.

Azur started operating in 1844 in Timisoara and in 1999 ICC Industrie InC
NY bought the majority stake of 86.7%, with the rest of shares (13.3%) being
held by natural and legal persons.
distributed by the company were imported from Germany’s Meffert AG, and in
the next five years they started to be produced domestically. In 1998 dufa
Romania launched the local production of water paints, followed by the
production of enamels and lacquer.
