Romaero will deliver to the Italian company Alenia aircraft components worth USD 10 M
Romaero will produce, for the Italian company Alenia Aeronautica, aircraft components, on the basis of a five-year agreement whose value is estimated to over USD 10 M, according to those declared yesterday by Dan Vulcan, general manager of the company. “We have signed a memorandum with Alenia Aeronautica, and in six months, our pre-production programme starts, production being scheduled to start in 2007”, Vulcan affirmed.

According to him, the contract having a five-year duration, has a value estimated to over USD 2 M per year. Romaero will produce, for Alenia Aeronautica, in its capacity as sub-contractor, sections from the covering part of ATR 42 and ATR 72 aircraft, used both for passenger transport and for sea monitoring activities. “This contract will result in over 200 new jobs in Romaero”, the company manager added. Romaero is a producer of planes and air structures and a supplier of services in the field of aircraft complex maintenance and repairs. The company is an authorised supplier for corporations such as Boeing, Israel Aircraft, Bombardier and Airbus subcontractors. Ministry of Economy and Commerce is the major shareholder, which intends to sell the whole participation held in Romaero, which is 72.9 per cent.

Romaero privatization is delayed because of debts of around RON 20 M which the company has to the state, according to sources from the Office of State Equities and Privatization in Industry.
