Romaero will produce, for the Italian company Alenia Aeronautica, aircraft
components, on the basis of a five-year agreement whose value is estimated
to over USD 10 M, according to those declared yesterday by Dan Vulcan,
general manager of the company. “We have signed a memorandum with Alenia
Aeronautica, and in six months, our pre-production programme starts,
production being scheduled to start in 2007”, Vulcan affirmed.
According to him, the contract having a five-year duration, has a value
estimated to over USD 2 M per year. Romaero will produce, for Alenia
Aeronautica, in its capacity as sub-contractor, sections from the covering
part of ATR 42 and ATR 72 aircraft, used both for passenger transport and
for sea monitoring activities. “This contract will result in over 200 new
jobs in Romaero”, the company manager added. Romaero is a producer of planes
and air structures and a supplier of services in the field of aircraft
complex maintenance and repairs. The company is an authorised supplier for
corporations such as Boeing, Israel Aircraft, Bombardier and Airbus
subcontractors. Ministry of Economy and Commerce is the major shareholder,
which intends to sell the whole participation held in Romaero, which is 72.9
per cent.
Romaero privatization is delayed because of debts of around RON 20 M which
the company has to the state, according to sources from the Office of State
Equities and Privatization in Industry.
