The tendering for the above contracts started in the second half of
2006.
CFR SA and its subsidiary CFR Electrificare have received a loan from the
European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and intends to use
its proceeds towards the cost of a project to continue modernisation and
introduce cost-savings measures in management of its traction energy
network. The proposed project, which has a total estimated cost of EUR
27 million equivalent (EUR 22.5 m from the Bank and EUR 4.5m in VAT and
other taxes), will require the procurement of goods, works and services
which include the supply and installation of equipment sets consisting of
traction substations, switching equipment, railway station distance control
equipment, and central dispatching equipment and communication facilities,
the supply of catenary maintenance vehicles and consultancy services
for contract supervision.
