The government authorized the Authority for the Recovery of State Assets (AVAS) to elaborate and apply the plan for the restructuring of Tractorul Brasov in order to increase the degree of attractiveness of the company in view of privatization.

AVAS suspended negotiations with Indian company Mahindra&Mahindra for the takeover of the tractor producer from Brasov because the investor did not agree with the clauses included in the project of the privatization contract. The restructuring involves reducing activity in certain departments of the plant and selling assets that contribute little to the main profitable activity.
