Avia Motors, Skoda dealer on the domestic market, in 2005 tripled its gross
profit, which reached 2.1 million euros, compared with 670,000 euros in the
previous year. "The growth was due to the opening of a Skoda automotive
complex in the East of Bucharest in 2004, the general expansion of the car
market and the growth of the Skoda brand," stated Liviu Serban, sales
manager of Avia Motors. The growth in profit was generated by an increase in
turnover, from almost 7 million euros in 2004 to 15.7 million euros in 2005.
The number of employees grew by 50%, to 123, from the 82 employees recorded
in 2004.
The company has Skoda showrooms opened in Bucharest and in the Pantelimon
commune, near Bucharest, which sell all Skoda models. Officials of the
company, set up in 1998, had previously estimated the growth at 35% for 2006
and 2007.
